Polyglyceryl-4 caprate is a 100% biodegradable natural ester of rapeseed and palm oils. It is a clear liquid with properties that mimic jojoba oil. It is a PEG-free refatting agent in liquid soaps, body washes, and bath oils. It helps dissolve small amounts of oil in water-based or toner-like formations; it functions as an emollient and also conditions and moisturizes the skin. It is often used as a co-emulsifier in OW emulsions. It can be used in rinse-off oil make-up remover, easily rinsing off without leaving an oily feel. Polyglyceryl-4 caprate has mild anti-microbial and deodorizing properties. It increases viscosity in shampoos and shower gels and is compatible with most cosmetic ingredients.
Usage
• Stable over a wide Ph range of 5.5 to 10.
• HLB 11.5
• Soluble in ethanol and glycols, dispersible in water
• Use in the water phase; up to 5% as a surfactant
• 2% as an emulsifier
• 1.5% in micellar waters
• As a solubilizer using a ratio of 1:5.
• Avoid strong acids, alkalis, and oxidizers.
