High purity food grade amino acid L-Theanine
Product Description
L-Theanine Powder is derived from Camellia sinensis--the tea plant. Black, green, and white teas all come from the Camellia sinensis plant and also provide the compound. L-Theanine is an amino acid, but it isn’t an essential amino acid or one of the more common nonessential amino acids that you might be more familiar with.
Although tea has been consumed for centuries and touted for its benefits for just as long, it was only in 1949 that L-Theanine was discovered as a constituent in green tea. L-Theanine has been used in various food and drink items in Japan since the 1960s. Perhaps surprisingly, L-Theanine can provide an umami (savory) flavor.
It is a water-soluble amino acid that is normally found in green tea, black tea, and several mushrooms. Intake of this amino acid is good for the immune system, heart function, liver function. It also has antioxidant activity that provides protection against oxidative stress. we can take theanine from theanine-rich foods or from the dietary supplement available.
L-Theanine is the major amino acid found exclusively in green tea which is responsible for the relief of stress and for wellbeing that we feel after drinking green tea.
L-theanine is considered a non-dietary amino acid, but it can still provide a wide range of potential benefits when supplemented. Read ahead to learn more about this nootropic and how you may use it to enhance cognition.
L-Theanine is a simple amino acid derivative from the amino acid glutamine (Glutamine-ethylamine). As a small amino acid L-Theanine can pass the brain blood barrier and in the human brain and also in other nerve cells it interacts with the glutamate sensitive NMDA receptor. L-Theanine slightly reduces the sensitivity and activity of the NMDA receptor which pumps calcium (cell excitement) into nerve cells. This is a similar action as magnesium does as counterpart of Calcium leading to muscular rand nerve relaxation. Such a central mode of action elicits many visual and perceptible physiological effects and benefits. For example, L-theanine, increases the appearance of alpha waves in the brain that promotes alertness and relaxation without causing drowsiness.
