Natural Apigenin 98% Celery Extract Powder Apigenin
Product Description
Apigenin is a bioflavonoid compound (specifically a flavone) that is found in a wide variety of plants and herbs. It is very abundant in chamomile tea, and exerts anxiety-reducing effects when consumed in these high doses. At even higher doses, it may be sedative.
Apigenin is also a very potent anti-cancer compound. It beneficially protects against a wide variety of cancers with high selectivity for cancer cells as opposed to non-cancerous cells. It also has a very high safety threshold, and active (anti-cancer) doses can be gained through consuming a vegetable and fruit rich diet.
Benefits
Apigenin is known to offer a range of health benefits, from supporting heart and brain health to promoting healthier skin. Most of the studies involving the flavonoid use animal models, but they highlight the potential mechanisms and benefits of this plant nutrient.

Applications in the Medicine and Cosmetics
Pharmaceutical Field
- Antitumor: Research has found that apigenin can exert antitumor effects through multiple pathways. For example, it can induce apoptosis of cancer cells by activating apoptotic proteases in cancer cells to prompt their death. It can also inhibit the proliferation of tumor cells by influencing the cell cycle and cell signaling pathways, thus impeding the growth of tumor cells.
- Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Protection: Apigenin is beneficial to the cardiovascular and cerebrovascular systems. It can lower cholesterol levels, improve blood pressure, and reduce inflammatory responses, thereby helping to reduce the risks of heart diseases and strokes.
- Antiviral Activity: Apigenin has been proven to possess certain antiviral abilities and has an inhibitory effect on poliovirus and other viruses. Its mechanism of action may be related to regulating the body's immune function and so on.
- Antibacterial: It has an inhibitory effect on a variety of bacteria and can be used to assist in the treatment of some bacterial infectious diseases and help to reduce inflammatory responses.
- Neuroprotection: It can alleviate inflammation and improve neuronal functions, having a certain potential role in preventing neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's disease.
- Improvement of Blood Glucose Control: It can regulate the body's metabolic processes and is helpful for improving blood glucose control, which is beneficial for the adjuvant treatment of diseases like diabetes.
- Liver Protection: It can protect the liver by exerting antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects, reducing oxidative damage and inflammatory responses in the liver, and thus plays a certain role in assisting in the prevention and treatment of some liver diseases.
Cosmetic Field
- Sunscreen: Apigenin has a strong absorption in the UVB region (with a wavelength between 280 - 320nm), while its absorption in the UVA region (with a wavelength between 320 - 400nm) is relatively small. Therefore, a low concentration of apigenin can be used as a skin-tanning agent added to tanning oils, while a high concentration of apigenin can be added to sunscreen and other sunscreen cosmetics to help protect the skin from the damage caused by ultraviolet rays.
- Inhibition of Melanin Production: A high concentration of apigenin can inhibit the activity of melanocytes and reduce the synthesis of melanin. It can be added to cosmetics such as creams, serums, lotions, and masks to help whiten the skin and fade dark spots.
- Antioxidant: It has strong antioxidant properties and can effectively capture various oxygen-containing free radicals, preventing the oxidative degradation of oils, thus delaying skin aging and maintaining the elasticity and luster of the skin. It can be used in various skin care cosmetics.
- Anti-inflammatory: It can prevent skin problems such as blisters, keratosis, and parakeratosis, reduce skin inflammatory responses, and can be applied to some cosmetics targeted at sensitive and problematic skin.
- Hair Care: Apigenin can relieve itchy scalp and can be applied to hair care products such as shampoos and conditioners to help improve scalp health and reduce dandruff problems.
