What isβ-cyclodextrin ?
β-cyclodextrin, also known as cyclomalt heptose, cyclic heptadextrin, or β-CD for short, is a ring made from starch extracted by microbial enzymes and composed of seven glucose residues bonded by β-1,4-glycosidic bonds, with a relative molecular mass of 1135.
It can form encapsulation complexes with a variety of compounds, making it stable, solubilizing, slow-release, emulsifying, antioxidant, anti-decomposition, heat preservation, moisture-proof, and has Masking odor and other functions, as a new type of molecular wrapping materials.

It is produced by the action of the enzyme, cyclodextrin glycosyl transferase (CGT),on hydrolyzed starch syrups. And it is white powder and there is a cavity in its molecule which can form inclusion compounds with a range of molecules. The solubility degree of Beta-cyclodextrin in water is 1.85 g/100ml @ 25°C, melting point is about 260℃, internal diameter is 0.7-0.8nm.
